Spotlight: Jessie Wade


Jessie Wade

Where were you born and raised?
I was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Park City and Holliday, UT. 

What brought you to St. George?
We moved here for my husband's work.

Where did you go to college? 
I studied my freshman year in Oregon at a college called Linfield College to play tennis then I moved back home and went to the University of Utah. 

What degree did you earn? 
I received my degree in public relations. 

What have you done since then? 
When I completed school, I opened a cafe and ran that until I had my first baby. 

How did you meet your husband? 
How long have you been together? We meet through his cousin who is from st. George. I had come down to her wedding which he attended. He had just returned home from his mission. We have been married 12 years this July. 

What are the names and ages of your children?
Grace 8
Tanner 6 
Gaby 3

What are your hobbies and favorite things to do? 
I love most things sporty. Tennis,waterskiing, hiking. 
I also love cooking and sewing. 

What is something unique about you?
I played tennis in college.

Spotlight: Lauri Nicholas


Lauri Nicholas

Born and raised?
I was born In Ogden, Utah but raised in California and Alaska until my family moved back to Utah.  

What brought you to St. George?
While my husband's job is in Vegas, we felt impressed to live in Saint George to raise our family.  

Schooling and career?
I have attended Weber State University in between having my children. Not done yet.    

How did you and your husband meet?
Chris and I met at a telemarketing company. He listened in on the calls I made, so he could "get acquainted with the company my group called for"….I didn't have to make very many calls because he just wanted to talk. We have been married 23 years now.    

Children?
We have Sydnee, 22, Madison 20, McKenzie, 17, Lauren, 14, and Tate 9.    

What do you like to do in your spare time?
My hobbies are genealogy, photography, reading, writing and Disneyland with my kids and husband.

Something unique about me….growing up in Alaska allowed me to camp and fish a lot! I really enjoyed living on the Kenai River in the summers to fish. I also became good at ice skating since all of the elementary schools in Anchorage have a skating rink on the play grounds. Don't know the last time I put on skates though, so don't be expecting anything at the next ward talent show!

Spotlight-McKenzie Guynn

McKenzie Guynn
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Sandy, UT.

What brought you to St. George?
My husband opened a furniture store here.

Schooling and career.
I went to the U of U. I got my degree in early childhood education. I have
been teaching kindergarten at Little Valley Elementary for the last 7 years.

How did you meet your husband? 
I met my husband through my little sister's friend. We have been married for 8 years.

What are the names and ages of your?
I have 2 kids- Sebastian will be 4 on the 27th and Penelope is 4 months.

What are your hobbies and favorite things to do?
I love to be outdoors, go for walks, run, dance, read when I can find the
time.

Something unique about me- I have been sky diving in Hawaii.
