This Weeks Spotlights

Ui Afualo:

Born and Raised- She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, but her family moved to Orem when she was five years old so her dad could go to school. They stayed, so Ui was mostly raised in Utah. Ui, Dan, and the boys go back to Hawaii every 2-3 years to visit their families.

How they met- Ironically, Ui and Dan both lived in the same small town in Hawaii but never met. They both attended BYU Provo where she worked in the multi-cultural office and as secretary of Polynesian club. Dan’s cousins were in the presidency, so they would meet at Dan’s house often. She noticed he alway sat in the back. A group of them went to a dance club one night, and Ui asked him to dance, but it still took him a month to get up the courage to ask her out. They dated for 12 months and were engaged for 11 months. They have been married now for almost 19 years.

Family- Ui and Dan have all boys! Tama 17, Kekoa 13, Nui 11, Kolu 6, Kapono 4

Schooling and Career- She graduated from BYU Provo in Elementary Ed. She has taught off and on since graduating and worked at George Washington this past year. Next year, she will be teaching at Bare Foot Montessori to be with Kapono.

Hobbies and free time- She loves being outside especially camping. She plays volleyball, tennis, pickle ball, basketball, and softball. She doesn’t really have free time now days, but she loves watching her kids play sports. She also sells Do Terra for its natural healing abilities.

Travel- She was a part of Lamanite Generation which was a group who would go around putting on firesides by performing native dances and baring testimony. They traveled all over South and Central America to places like Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. Wherever they traveled, the missionary work would increase because of the spirit the group brought.

Favorite Calling- She has had too many callings that she has loved to pick just one. She’s been primary chorister, young women’s president, cub scouts, boy scouts, primary teacher, and right now she is our emergency preparedness expert.

Something Unique About Her- If she sets a goal, she always accomplishes it. Ui’s goal for the past 7 years has been to be self-sustainable. She loves to bake from scratch which includes grinding her own flour! She has goats and chickens to get eggs and milk. She also cans, pressure cooks, gardens, and has a year supply! She is amazing!!! She is totally self taught. She learned everything from Youtube or gathering information on the internet. She says that anyone can do it if they have the drive and ambition!


Michelle Johnson:

Born and raised: Michelle was born in Provo and grew up all over Utah County.

Travel: Michelle says they have been to all the usual spots, California, New York, New Jersey (Long Beach Island), Hawaii, and Mexico.

Employment and skills: Michelle is an RN and just recently got a part time job. She will be working at a care center passing out medications.

Family:  Michelle and Ryan have been married for ten years next month!! They have two kids, Dodge(9), and Addison(4).

Hobbies: Michelle says she loves wood working and hanging out and golfing with her husband. But she doesn't have  time for other hobbies cause she has kids.

Dream Vacation: Her dream vacation is Italy for the food and the history.

Favorite Church Calling: She loved being in Young Womens but she really enjoys being in Relief Society and getting to know all the women in the ward.

Something Unique: Michelle has 15 brothers and sisters but she is an only child. The 15 are either step or half.

This Weeks Spotlight

Kristen Whitesides
Born and Raised - Kristen was born in Georgia, but she's an "Army Brat," so she's lived all over the U.S. She even lived in Japan for a while!

How they met  - Kristen and Jason actually knew each other when they were 10 and 11 years old. They both lived in Kansas at the time, Although both families moved, Kristen kept in contact with his family. When he got a divorce, he asked his mom about Kristen and found out she was still single. They reconnected and have now been married for 7 years.

Family -  Kristen has 3 stepsons: Kason 14, Dallon 12, and AJ 10. She and Jason have a son named Ashton who is almost 4 and a daughter Grace who is 7 months old.

Schooling and Career -  Kristen graduated from Weber State with a degree in public relations. She has worked for Congressman Jim Hansen and the the Speaker of the House in Washington, D.C. When She moved back to Utah, She worked for the Banker's Association. Now she handles public relations for Jason's business!

Hobbies and Favorites -  She loves mountain biking, the outdoors, and traveling!

Travel - Speaking of traveling, she's been to Japan, the Philippines, the Caymans, England, Paris, the Dominican Republic, and all over the U.S.

Favorite Calling - Her favorite calling was in Young Women's, but she also loves teaching in all it's various forms.

Something Unique About Her - She is scuba diving certified and of course, moved around a ton when she was a kid.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Jessica King on the birth of her baby girl, Lizzie Beth King. She was born last Tuesday, May 14th weighing 7 lbs 7 oz and measuring 20" long.

And also, Congratulations to Mary Murdock on the birth of her baby girl, Brooke Murdock. She was born last Friday, May 17th weighing 8 lbs 7 oz and measuring 21.5" long.

This Weeks Spotlights


 AMIE ANDELIN
Born and raised: Amie was born and raised in Riverton, UT.
Travel: Amie has traveled to Morocco, Spain, Paris, England, Cancun, New York, Dominican Republic, Amsterdam, Italy and Istanbul.
Employment and skills: Amie works for the Washington County School District Preschool.  She is a Mentor Teach and she does the curriculum for the Title One class.
Family: Amie and her husband have been married for 7 years.  They have three kids, Maddix (5), Alyssa (3) and Noah (4 months).  Her husband works for Resource Management.
Hobbies: Amie loves to travel, shop and spend time with family and her friends.  She also enjoys to sleep when she gets a chance!
Dream Vacation: Her dream vacation was to Istanbul but the next place she would love to go is Prague.
Favorite Church Calling: She loves Enrichment and Compassionate Service.
AMANDA SORENSON
Born and Raised- She was born and raised in South Weber. In fact, most of her family still lives there now. She moved to St. George to go to school at Dixie College.
How they met- She and Bodie met in a history class at Dixie College, and the rest is history! They’ve been married 3.5 years.
Family- Amanda is expecting her first baby on August 7th. She and Bodie are so excited to welcome a little boy into their home!
Schooling and Career- She started her schooling out at Dixie College then went to Utah State as an ambassador. She was studying Family and Consumer Science and was planning on becoming a teacher; however, when she and Bodie moved back to St. George for a job, she decided to go to the Skin Institute and get her Master Esthetician License. She works at Riverside Dermatology and Medical Arts.
Hobbies and favorites- Amanda loves boating at the lake, camping, working out, and basically anything with her family! She’s been working on a nursery for her baby, and it’s very cute! She painted gray and white chevron stripes on one wall and did an amazing job! (I am a personal witness) She’s now working on refinishing the furniture.
Travel- She had the awesome opportunity to go to Africa for a humanitarian project when she was 20! She’s also been on a Western Caribbean cruise and to London, Cancun, and Cabo.
Favorite Calling- She definitely loved Young Women’s!
Something Unique About Her- She has castrated and branded cattle! Yep, this little lady knows how to get down and dirty!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Anna and Jared Dupree on the birth of their baby girl Isla Lillie Dupree. She was born today, Tuesday May 7th weighing 6 lbs and measuring 19"long.

This Weeks Spotlights



Mary Tebbs:
Born and raised: Mary was born in Salt Lake but grew up in Tooele County, in Stansbury Park.
Travel: Mary went to Hawaii for 2 months for a student program. She has also been to New York and Tennessee.
Employment and skills: Mary went to Dixie State and got her RN. She works in the fall giving the flu shot and other immunizations.
Family: Mary and her husband have been married for 6 ½ years. They have two cute little girls. Her husband is a CPA and just started his own business.
Hobbies: Mary enjoys running. She is training for her 5th marathon! She also enjoys doing crafts and art things.
Dream Vacation: Anywhere with the beach and ocean
Favorite Church Calling: Serving in the Young Women and Nursery
Something Unique about Mary: Mary is technically not even 5 feet tall.



Michelle Boulter:
Born and Raised- Michelle says she’s basically a “Southern Hick.” She was born in Burlington, North Carolina. Her family moved to Puerto Rico for a few years when she was younger because her mother is Puerto Rican, but she spent most of her childhood in Mississippi. She lived there until she moved away to college.
How they met- She and her husband, Blake, met while attending Rick’s College. She was hanging out with his roommates one day when he came home. He was “smart enough” to ask her out before anyone else could grab her. They have been married for almost 17 years!
Family- Michelle and Blake have 3 boys: Brekkon 13, Korbin 10, and “G” 7.
Schooling and Career- She went to Rick’s College for her Associates Degree then transferred to Utah State for a degree in Psychology. She works as a reading specialist at George Washington Elementary.
Hobbies and favorites- In her free time, Michelle loves to read. She also loved hiking, camping, and most of all, shooting! You can also find her and Blake down in Mesquite playing BINGO at least once a month.
Travel- She’s traveled to many places in South America like Mexico, Honduras, Puerto Rico, and Cancun. She’s been all over the U.S., and recently, the whole family took a trip to Washington, D.C. She would love to travel to Hawaii and Europe, especially Scotland!
Favorite Calling- Her favorite calling was definitely being the Young Women’s Camp Director.
Something Unique About Her- Michelle loves NASCAR! She says that she loves the crashes the best! Because she is a “southern hick,” she can also gut and skin any animal alive! Her daddy felt like that was an important thing for any girl to know :)
