Sister Spotlight-Wendy Bliss

Where were you born?  Columbia, Missouri.  My dad was going to school there.
If you are married, how did you meet your husband?  How did he propose?  Both my husband and I are from Delta.  I met him during my Jr. Year of High School and he just returned from his mission from Detroit.  We dated for 2 years when we drove to St. George and he proposed in front of the Temple where we got married.
My favorite food is – Chocolate Chip Cookies
My favorite hobby is – Pickleball
My favorite restaurant is – Magelby’s
The music I listen to the most is – Whatever is on the Radio
My favorite thing to buy is – Chocolate Chip Cookies
The city I would most like to visit is – New York City
The best vacation I ever had was – West Yellowstone.  We rented a cabin there on the 4th of July for a week and we went hiking and fishing.  The kids loved it!
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?  Speak Spanish
What chore do you absolutely hate doing?  Folding Clothes
What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic?  I am a great problem solver!
What is the “thing” that you are most grateful for?  My family!  I have the most amazing husband and the best kids ever!  I have 5 kids – my oldest, Tyson, is 24 and lives in Logan with his wife and is going to school at Utah State.  My second, Brooke, is 21 and is going to school at UVU and her husband goes to BYU.  Then Blair is 19 and is going on her mission to Washington D.C. on April 1st.  Kamryn is 13 and Haden is 12.  No grandkids yet but looking forward to it!  I am so blessed to be their mom!

Sister Spotlight-Charise Tippets

I was born in Las Vegas but was raised in Cedar City.  My parents moved there when I was a baby to go to school and are still there.  I am the oldest of 10 - 6 sisters, 3 brothers.  After high school I moved to Salt Lake where I attended the LDS Business College and got my degree in Business Management.  After graduating I wasn't sure what I wanted to do so I moved to LA to be a nanny.  I lived in Canoga Park in the Valley (when Valley girls were totally popular for sure).  I moved to Las Vegas to resume schooling in Hotel/Restaurant Management and also worked as a nanny.  That didn't work as planned so I moved back to Cedar City the summer of 1986.
The first time I saw Ty he was teaching Sunday School in the Young Adult Ward.  I was so impressed!  I still remember the lesson was on Obedience.  I didn't see him until later in the fall on campus.  I found out that he worked for the forest service and was fighting fires most of the summer until school started.  That was the only week he was in Cedar all summer.  Our first date was Jan. 26th and we were married June 26th 1987.
Ty was accepted into the MBA program in Oregon so I moved up in August and found a job and apartment while he was fighting fires.  We were married for 4 months before we lived in the same place.  He completed a two year program in one year and we moved to Las Vegas.  By this time I was 7 months pregnant (not a good time to move to Vegas) and our oldest, Sierra was born in the same hospital I was, November 1988.  Ty's parents were called to Jamaica in August of 1989 and we moved to Washington to take care of their home.  Our son was born in October 1990 and when they returned in Feb. 1991 we bought a house in the same neighborhood.
Our next three daughters were born while living there. Cheyenne November 1994 (I was serving as Relief Society President and we had 13 babies in the ward that year) Savannah March 1997, Sheridan November 2000.  Ty's parents moved in with us in 1997 (we had a basement apartment) and by 2001 we knew we need more space.  We moved out here to Little Valley June of 2002 (I was 6 months pregnant with our sixth child, I don't have great timing or planning apparently).
Codi was born in October 2002.  Our two oldest are now married and Cheyenne is getting married March 6th. I went back to work in August of 2012 at George Washington Academy to help pay for the two weddings that we had that fall. In January of 2013 Ty's mom passed away and his employment changed to not.  I started working for Katering Koncepts in April 2013 and still work at both places.  I LOVE both jobs for the different challenges and opportunities. I have learned so much.

My favorite restaurants are Pizza/Pasta Factory and Paula’s Mexican Restaurant.
My hobbies are Reading and Crocheting.
I don't have any musical abilities or talent but I play a great radio (Pandora).  My shuffle list includes the Eagles, America, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryon, Jason Aldean, Celtic Thunder, Loreena McKennitt, Yani, and anything DISNEY.
I love history and have always wanted to go to England and Europe.  Sheridan and I have a trip planned for March 2016 with a group led by our own Laura Vanderslice.
My favorite vacation was a Mexican Rivera Cruise with the whole family plus Ty's sister Jody and mom.  Swimming with dolphins in Acapulco, Zip Lines in Puerto Viarta, and snorkeling in Cabo.  Grandma loved the dolphins!
I am a list maker and an organizer but I’m not really very fun. I would rather clean the garage than go to the lake.  I would rather work inside than out.  Plants don't respond well to me but I grow amazing weeds.
I have always wanted to be able to sing, hopefully in the next life.
I am been able to serve in the Primary, Cub Scouting program, and Relief Society organizations.

I am so grateful to live in this country.  With all of its problems and challenges it is still the best in the world.
