Sister Spotlight:  Sarah Christensen

Where were you born? I was born in Nephi, but I’m from Ftn. Green, Utah.
If you are married, how did you meet your husband? How did he propose? We met and dated in high school.  We got engaged after he got home from his mission.  He proposed by making a trial of rose petals, candles, and pictures of us from my front door to my room where he was standing holding a picture of the Manti Temple and a ring.  It was pretty romantic!
My favorite food is – Durango’s Grilled Chicken Salad or deep fried Las Vegas Sushi Roll or even Chicken Enchilada Soup! I’m having a lot of pregnancy cravings right now!
My favorite hobby is – Reading, Dancing, or Singing.
My favorite restaurant is – Durango’s and Sakura.
My favorite thing to buy is – Clothes!  Nothing makes you feel good like a new outfit!
The music I listen to most is – I literally listen to just about everything.  Classical, country, pop, rock, church music, you name it!  The only genres I’m not crazy about are heavy metal and most rap.
The city/country I would most like to visit is – Venice, Italy.
The best vacation I ever had was – My husband and I went to Boston earlier this summer and it was phenomenal!  It’s such a beautiful town with such a great history!
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? How to decorate better!  I would love to take an interior design class!  I never know what goes good together.
What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Folding laundry.  I am literally putting it off right this second while I fill out this spotlight.  If clothes didn’t wrinkle I would just shove them in drawers all willy-nilly!
What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic? I love to laugh and make people laugh.  Life is better if you have a smile on your face.
What is the “thing” you are most grateful for? Hands down my family!  I am so blessed with the world’s best husband and three (soon to be four) wonderful kids.  They are everything to me!

Sister Spotlight

Sister Spotlight:  Denise Christensen

Where were you born? Salt Lake City.

If you are married, how did you meet your husband? I met my husband while going to school at Dixie College.  We have six children, one girl and five boys.  We have fifteen grandchildren with two more due this summer.  Family is the most important to me and I enjoy spending as much time as I can with them.

My favorite hobby is – Making yummy desserts for friends and family.  I also enjoy creating quilts and quilting them.

The best vacation I ever had was – I would love to return to Israel someday.  I went with my husband, two sisters, and a brother about a year and a half ago and it was an incredible trip.

I look forward to finishing our new home and getting settled down in our new ward.  My husband and I are excited about our new calling to teach in Primary.  We have only taught one week and we already think we have the best kids ever.   I am grateful for the gospel and for my Savior.  I am so thankful for all the blessings I have and for the love I feel from my Heavenly Father.

Sister Spotlight

Sister Spotlight:  Lundi Rushton

Where were you born? I was born in Orem, Utah.
If you are married, how did you meet your husband? How did he propose? My best friend from high school served a mission with my husband.  We met at my friend’s homecoming.  Later, my friend and I went to General Conference with my “not yet” husband and his date . . . We were more interested in each other than our dates.  We did a long distant relationship and were married 8 months later.
My favorite food is – I am a steak and potatoes kinda girl.
My favorite hobby is – I love books.  A perfect day is a good book in the sunshine.  Books and doing anything outside are my happy things.
My favorite restaurant is – My moods change with my husband loves when we are deciding where to eat.  I have a new favorite every day.  So, today I would choose Red Lobster!
My favorite thing to buy is – Things on a really great sale!  That makes for a really good day!
The music I listen to most is – I love so many different types of music.  My favorite these days is Fight Song and Thinking Out Loud.  Listen to them . . . they are great!
The city/country I would most like to visit is – I would love to visit Rome, Italy.  I’m a history buff and this would be a dream come true!
The best vacation I ever had was – When I was 18 my parents and I lived in Germany for 4 months.  White there, my brother came over and we traveled all over England where he served his mission.  From that, London became one of my favorite places to ever visit.
What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Emptying the dishwasher!
What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic? I like adventure and having a good time.

What is the “thing” you are most grateful for? It’s cliche but my family is my world.  They will always be the thing I am more grateful for in this life.

Sister Spotlight:  Courtney White

Where were you born? I was born in Murray, Utah but moved to St. George when I was 4 years old; so, I am a transplant.
If you are married, how did you meet your husband? How did he propose? I met my hubby the first week after he got home off his mission.  I insulted him about his high school picture.  For me, I knew that he was the one for me.  It took him much longer.  We had to get in a car accident to change his mind.  He took me to a friend’s house and we did a white elephant gift exchange.  Everyone was on it but me.  When I opened up my gift I was not wanting what it was.  I put it aside until everyone kept telling me to look at the glass Christmas tree that was full of Hersey Kisses.  I always thought, why look?  It’s full of Kisses.  He had the ring taped on a string hanging in the middle of the Kisses.  Pfftt!  I’m a blonde sometimes.
My favorite food is – Whatever I don’t have to cook.  I have picky eaters at home and when I do cook the kids won’t eat it.  Kerry is great to eat whatever I make.  I just hate being a short order cook to my picky eaters.
My favorite hobby is – Making other people happy.  I try to find things to do to make others laugh and be happy.  I love to make crafts for my house or to give to others.
My favorite restaurant is – Out of business!  Unfortunately I loved eating at a Mexican style restaurant in Ancestor Square called the Panama Grill.  Best Mexican food ever, but unfortunately they closed their doors.  Now, I don’t have a favorite.  I really prefer to stay home and make my own dinners.  Much healthier that way and less expensive on the pocketbook.
My favorite thing to buy is – A Swig bubble tea, creamy avocado/cocoanut with no pearls.  If I can buy that every day I would.  Best drink from Swig ever!  I even have convinced my hubby (he hates cocoanut).  It is my sister’s fault, she introduced me.
The music I listen to most is – Anything that my older kids don’t like.  80’s music was the best.  Gospel, instrumental, you get the drift.  If it is uplifting and bring the spirit I will listen to that first.  But, I am pretty sure that even Heavenly Father might tune in to soft rock and boogie down, too.  We like to dance at our house.
The city/country I would most like to visit is – Holland!  I would love to see the flowers and the Dutch culture.  My hubby served there on his mission.  He says the food is just better.  I’d love to go once.
The best vacation I ever had was – When we spent our 12th anniversary by ourselves with not kids and we went to Disneyland.  Yes, we got sick and drank coke like crazy, and downed the Dramamine; but, it was a week of just him and me.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would love to learn to play the cello and the harp.  I would love to be able to do that one day.
What chore do you absolutely hate doing? Dusting!  I would rather clean the toilet than dust.  I guess because that was always my chore at home and I hated it.
What do you think is your very best feature or characteristic? I am happy and positive!  And I absolutely love to laugh!

What is the “thing” you are most grateful for? I work with severe children.  I work with kids that can’t talk or feed themselves or even do simply everyday things.  I am grateful that I can do these things.  I can help do for them what they can’t do for themselves; I love it!  There is nothing like feeling their sweep spirits, knowing that I get to glimpse a small piece of Heaven when I look in their eyes and they smile right back at you.  I also love being with my own family.  They are such a blessing in my life.  Oh, how grateful I am that they can put up with me.
